OUR PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

Mission

The mission of Tuvia Preschool is to enhance the learning and development of young children in a safe and caring Jewish environment. This is achieved through a curriculum designed to meet the individual needs of each child.

Philosophy & Curriculum

Tuvia School is a nurturing, responsive learning community where childhood is recognized and celebrated as a unique period of life that impacts all future development. Essential elements in this process include contributions of individuals, families, education professionals, synagogue leadership, and the wider community.

Our program recognizes that children learn and develop best as they interact within a safe environment where they feel competent and affirmed, and within an environment that they have helped to create.

Tuvia promotes learning through relationships that help children feel secure, and develop self-respect, respect for others, cooperation and responsibility for the community. The curriculum, infused with Jewish values and the teachings of our heritage, is based upon the best practices in the early childhood profession. The program goals include:

  • Development of skills and attitudes that lead to success in school

  • Creation of a sense of community

  • Affirmation of the individual child and family

  • Development of a Jewish identity

  • Understanding of an individual's responsibility and place in the larger community

Tuvia is an integral part of the larger Temple Menorah community that encourages life-long learning for children, families, congregants, educational professionals and the community at large.

Tuvia does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, national origin, sexual orientation or religion in its admission policies, educational process, or in any other school programs.

OUR TK & KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM

Full-Day

At Tuvia School of Temple Menorah’s TK and Kindergarten, we are creating a community of learners who see themselves as capable readers, writers (authors), mathematicians, scientists, artists, athletes, and valuable, responsible, respectful citizens of our world. With low teacher:student ratios, we foster students’ increasing personal independence by developing a positive self-concept of who they are as individuals, as well as what their role is in their family and their community.

Our California state standards-based, integrated curriculum will build on the unique strengths that each child brings to the classroom, while simultaneously introducing them to new ways of thinking and learning, in order to expand their world, providing a strong foundation for their future learning experiences. This unique and effective approach to learning provides opportunities to create a more well-rounded student through reading, writing, math, speaking, listening, critical thinking, Judaic studies, science, social studies, art, music, physical education, Hebrew language acquisition, and gross and fine motor development. We have regular access to our incredible outdoor learning spaces and Wilderness Park across the street for outdoor educational experiences.

Our full-day program, taught by a credentialed teacher, supports the developmental and individual needs of all kindergarten and first grade children as they grow and progress emotionally, cognitively, academically, socially, physically, and spiritually. Here at Tuvia, we kindle a life-long love of learning, which is key to all future academic and personal success.

TUVIA AFTERCARE

K-5th grade

In our school-age program, we are continuing to build and support a community of learners with their district directed online learning or blended learning as well as provide full-day support for working families.

With low teacher:student ratios, we foster students’ increasing personal independence by developing a positive self-concept of who they are as individuals, as well as what their role is in their family and their community.
Our trained educators support students with their online learning and classwork requirements. We have a schedule that accommodates both academic learning and an emergent curriculum that builds on their unique strengths, while simultaneously introducing them to new ways of thinking and learning, in order to expand their world, providing a strong foundation for their future learning experiences. We provide opportunities for students to enhance their skills in reading, writing, math, speaking, listening, critical thinking, Judaic studies, science, social studies, art, music, physical education, Hebrew language acquisition, and gross and fine motor development. Classes also have regular access to Wilderness Park across the street for outdoor educational experiences.
As with all our programs, we support the developmental and individual needs of all children as they grow and progress emotionally, cognitively, academically, socially, physically, and spiritually. Here at Tuvia, we kindle a life-long love of learning, which is key to all future academic and personal success.
